What is a Mei tai?

A Mei Tai is a traditional Chinese baby carrier that can be used to carry a baby from birth right up to toddler hood, in a variety of different positions. Originally the Mei Tai consisted of a square of fabric with a long strap at each corner.

Modern versions of the Mei Tai normally feature a longer, rectangular body, with the shoulder straps angled to make them more comfortable. Some feature padding in the straps and body to make them more comfortable for both baby and wearer.
